can we talk about rap for a minute? and how it is perceived?
as a rule when i hear people criticize rap and hip hop their issue with it is that it’s “disgusting, misogynistic, immoral”
and yeah alright fucking bitches and getting paper makes up a great deal of the lyrical content in rap but
oh my god that’s every fucking genre of music ever
misogyny is so widespread that acknowledging its presence only in a culture that is mostly urban and black is nothing more than racism
i’m no expert on racism obviously because i’m as white as they come but I’M NOT FUCKING BLIND
criticisms of rap in the guise of concern for womens’ rights usually come from white people who idolize misogynistic white musicians and it’s getting old, your heroes are just as guilty as the poc artists you’re demonizing
- the beatles
- alice cooper
- the rolling stones
- guns and roses
- bob dylan
what’s that fucking bible quote? “First take the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye”
your opinions are worthless without intersectionality and you’re not fooling anyone, your blatant racism is getting on my nerves
get at me.
